Stuck for ideas this summer? Keep the kids entertained with a GUST holiday club

The long and arduous six-week school holiday can feel like a lifetime for parents. A time when mums and dads scramble around busily looking for the next activity to keep their young ones occupied. And while letting their holiday be dominated by long stints on FIFA or Fortnite might be a quick fix, an activity like swimming is a far more productive and useful way for them to spend the summer break.

At GUST Swim School Centre of Excellence, our swimming holiday clubs are aimed at children aged 4-11 years old, providing the perfect opportunity to get them away from their tablets or computer games – andgain all the benefits that swimming brings.

What are the benefits my child will get from swimming?

There are several benefits to swimming:

  • It’s great for overall wellbeing and health
  • It boosts confidence
  • It provides a full workout, using all muscles in the body
  • It’s fun!

It really is a great way to exercise, clear the mind and make the most of their time. At GUST, our ethos is that children should be able to swim with confidence, and that’s what we aim for every day.

What happens at a GUST holiday club?

In the time youngsters spend with us, there is a real emphasis on enjoyment and fun while providing the necessary skills to develop confidence in the water.

Our holiday clubs run during the summer holidays each Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am-4pm, at just £30 per child, per day. Each session has a maximum of 10 places per holiday club, a nice number which ensures we can give each child the attention and teaching which they deserve.

We make sure each holiday club is different and has lots of variety. That’s why each one has a different theme (Seaside, Fairground, Emergency, Sports World Cups, Mini Beasts or Circus).

Each session will include a high quality one-hour swimming session in our Cove Pool (a very lovely 31 degrees) with lots of fun and play included.

They’ll also learn basic first aid and life skills, take part in indoor games, competitions and crafts. This year, we also have a new outdoor garden area for children to enjoy!
