Over the last few months we have been working on a few special projects and we would like to share them with you all!
BIG Criteria News …
Our criteria has always been at the heart of everything we do within the water. It is extremely important to us and is ever evolving. We have very recently developed further awards within our pathway. Over the last 5 years of GUST Swim School Centre of Excellence opening, we have run many pilot schemes and surveys with children of different ages and abilities within the pathway. This was to see how effectively it was working, and if their progression was being measured accurately for what we are expecting of them.
From this, we developed the pathway further, with great additional awards (Little Swimmers 4 & 5, Orca 11 & Coral 12). GUST ‘Core Values’, jumping etiquette, lifesaving sequences now becoming a staple for within the lessons plus much more!
It is now an extremely extensive criteria, considering physical and mental ability of our swimmers at each age. For those children on Puffer 6 Award and above, they will need to bring along pyjamas each week in order to practice what is required for the ongoing awards. It will also mean that graduation can now take place at our Coral 12 level – please don’t worry if our Shark 10 is fast approaching you…..a graduation trophy will still await those swimmers should they wish to finish up at this point. We are very happy to be sharing our newly adapted GUST Journey with you all soon through various platforms including visuals within the Centre itself and a mobile app!
Exciting Developments!
In other exciting developments – work is well underway on our very own mobile phone App – soon to be available to download on Apple & Android!
This will act as a ‘Parent Portal’, secured by your email address. It will have all your child’s feedback from their instructor along with all awards and criteria to show exactly what is required for their next award on the GUST journey. I hope you will all agree that this has been a very much needed development! We are very pleased with the access and insight this will be able to offer parents and our swimmers in the very near future!
We are also in the process of implementing a monthly Direct Debit payment system! This will benefit so many parents, making lessons more affordable throughout the year and something we know, has been long awaited!
November sees us launch our fabulous ‘GUST Water Bumps’! These are Aquanatal classes that will be offered on a Monday morning (after the school run!) They will be 30 minutes in duration, be term time only and have a maximum of 8 mummies per session. We will have guest speakers each week, available for mummies to chat to about all things ‘baby’. Contact the team if you would like to book in!
Half Term Swim Fun Holiday Club
We saw many lovely children through the doors for October half term on our Swim Fun Holiday Club. They all enjoyed many Halloween crafts, making new friends and of course lots & lots of swimming!

Photo Shoot
We held our last Underwater Photoshoot with ‘Starfish Underwater Photography’ for this year on Tuesday 29th Oct, it went extremely well! We saw lots of happy babies and even some incredible Mermaids! Our next shoot will be held in the Easter Half Term 2020.
Office News

Training
Our Swim school has also had the addition of a sister company!
GUST Training SolutionsLtd – our very own inhouse training company! With all the latest training facilities and working alongside the STA, this is great for all Swim Teaching, First Aid and even Fire Marshall courses. Courses are available to book onto and details can be found on the GUST Training Solutions Facebook Page.
Stafford Rangers
