GUST 'Rookie Lifesaving' courses teach children essential water skills to keep themselves safe and knowledge of what to do in an emergency. The programme features swimming and lifesaving skills supported by water safety education, allowing participants to enjoy swimming as an activity and, vitally, to protect their lives should an accident occur in or out of the water.
GUST 'Teeny Tiny Swimmers' offers parents and babies (3 months+) an exciting opportunity to develop sensory experiences, explore the water and gain confidence through our unique programme of play, songs, games and activities. This programme is exclusively offered at our Centre of Excellence in a warm 31 degree pool. Class sizes are small with only 4 mums/dads & babies per group to help ensure a positive and personal experience.
GUST 'Little Swimmers' is an exciting opportunity for parents and toddlers from age 2 + to take part in a 10 week swimming course. The sessions are aimed at building confidence, correct use of swimfins ready for full stream lessons, knowledge of safety rules and how to be safe in and around the pool.
The course will involve much interaction with songs and swimming and by the end of the 10 weeks, mum or dad should be dressed and watching from the side!
GUST 'Mainstream' Lessons start from age 4+. Children will work towards achieving GUST's own unique certificates and cloth badges. We have fun characters to enable children to identify their levels. Once confidence is achieved, armbands are removed and children focus on learning in a swimfin. The swimfin works in harmony with the body, helping to develop a better and more natural swimming position. GUST swimmers learn in small class sizes with a hands on teaching approach.
GUST 'Development Squads' are designed to improve our more advanced swimmers in a club style environment. The squads focus on advanced drills and skill acquisition for all strokes, as well as continuing to develop their aerobic endurance and swimming terminology. Clock reading, the importance of warm-ups and swim-downs along with lane etiquette will be developed. Swimmers will learn how to start, turn and finish effectively.
