Hi guys. Just wanted to let know that i wish u could of seen travis at the pool here at butlins. Hes been on every water slide. The rapids. Jumped in. Swam some widths and even swam through the rain fall with no crying when it got in his eyes!! All with thanks to the trusty shark fin. I just wanted to put in writing my thoughts regarding GUST, Trentham High School on Sunday Mornings. The confidence that my daughter, Lily has gained from first lessons with Marie only just over 12 months ago when she wouldn't even put her face in the water, through to badge 7 now with Danielle is tremendous (as well as the ability to swim really well in my biased opinion !!).

Can't thank you guys enough for the professionalism in how you work with the children and instill the techniques in a fun 30 minute session where the competitiveness also comes through! There's no way I could do that as a dad just taking Lily to the pool every weekend. Lily has never once said that she doesn't want to go to swimming lessons and has never been pushed by us - she is just happy to go every Sunday - even though its early and cold in winter!!

Please pass on my thanks to all concerned and please keep up the excellent work. I really mean it and I tell everyone what a great job you all do. I'll always be grateful.

Please pass on our dearest thanks to Gareth and all the staff on Saturday; Harris and all his friends had such a super time at the Sea Scooter Party and a lot of good memories were taken away with them (and the parents from watching!!!!). One of the party members was not a confident swimmer and felt a little embarrassed to wear armbands in the deep end so he stayed in the shallow end where he had a super time playing games with one of the lifeguards – this made him feel really at ease and not left out.

I just wanted to email to thank you for the great party Emily had yesterday at Newcastle Community High! Emily really enjoyed herself and we were extremely impressed with the staff – both in terms of the number of lifeguards and their organisation. Lots of the parents there also commented on what a great party it was, and how well it ran, so hopefully you will get a few more bookings as a result!

GUST Swim School Ltd has a wonderful system. My son has achieved a lot more in the few months he's been here than he ever achieved in the larger classes.

The teachers are good with children and motivate each one to their own individual needs.

Just wanted to let you know that your swimming lessons have saved a life, whilst on holiday Amy was swimming in the deep end of the pool we were on sun lounges watching her, a little girl aged three who can not swim jumped in the pool with no arm bands or floats, Amy swam over to her and pulled her out and lifted her high enough out of the water to enable her to breath.

She showed great confidence and told the parents they needed to get her to have swimming lessons.

Just to let you know Harrison loved the swimming on Saturday, I wasn’t even sure he would enter the pool but thanks to your excellent teaching staff he was back (albeit with discs on) swimming backwards and forwards and thoroughly enjoying himself. Hopefully his confidence to swim again without his armbands will return soon too. He said “mummy, these lessons are much more funner than my old ones”!!!!

Nigel and I wanted to take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks for your amazing dedication, commitment and professionalism that you have shown us throughout Finley's time with GUST. Finley has swam with you since he was just 3 years old, beginning, petrified of water, having had a less than positive experience prior.

Both Nigel and I are disappointed that Finley no longer wishes to continue his swimming but equally feel that it would be wrong to force him to continue, knowing that he's achieved a great standard, but not wishing to swim at club level.

Please pass on our special thanks to Rob whom Finley evidently has particular respect for with his wonderful calm and gentle personality. He always bought the best out of Fin, giving praise and enhancing his confidence, thank you.

I just thought I would drop you a quick email to let you know how pleased I am with Daniel's progress over the past couple of weeks. After two 1:1 lessons we have gone from a child who flatly refused to get into the water, to one who couldn't wait to join the group this Sunday.

I can't thank Matt enough for his patience and I really appreciate the turn around that he has achieved in such a short space of time. He makes the lesson fun and got Daniel doing things without him even realising it, he is certainly a credit to your swimming school.

I have already recommended you to friends and work colleagues and certainly wouldn't hesitate to in the future.

Dear Gareth, I just wanted to put in writing how impressed I am with Lucy, the new lady who is teaching my daughter, Scarlett Thwaites.

Scarlett is a reluctant swimmer, but has enjoyed her lessons with you for some time now. However, since Lucy has been teaching her, she has been really challenged to do things she would never normally do, and certainly never do when I take her swimming! Within a few weeks with Lucy, she is swimming a width with her face in the water and, unbelievably, last week removed her swimfin and swam 2 widths brilliantly.

She has always been so scared of sinking that the idea of removing her fin always created panic, but Lucy was so confident in her ability, that she trusted her enough to try. Scarlett is now so excited that she can swim like a big girl, and I can't thank you and Lucy enough for making my nervous swimmer into a confident one!

After just finding out that Lucas has been awarded swimmer of the month for October we want to pass on a huge thank you to you and your superb team. When Lucas first joined 12 weeks ago he couldn't swim without armbands. Within weeks you guys had him swimming unaided and just recently he's been doing somersaults in the water and retrieving objects from the bottom of the pool! He's so confident in the water now and you make it so much fun whilst being very professional at the same time. The discipline is second to none and the way that you engage with them, in particular actually being in the water with them is fantastic.Thanks again and we look forward to bringing his little sister along in the new year too!

Hi Gareth and Matt

Just to say thanks so much for the time you invested in Marc over the last 3 sessions last week.

Marc has had many therapy sessions over his short life and I was really impressed with your style of teaching. It’s so great that you get in the water with the child and engage with them at every level. It’s clear to see that he is really enjoying himself.

Marc had a wonderful time and has come on so much in just a very short time. Considering on the first day he could barely do anything and really lacked confidence, and then on the last day he was jumping in and swimming around (with some flotation aid), but even had a go with nothing supporting him.

His dad took him swimming today and he just took off with his armbands on; swimming length after length. And he even wanted to jump in!! The only problem was that he wanted Gareth and Matt to come with him.....

Marc had a big smile on his face throughout the whole time in the pool and couldn’t wait to come home and tell me all about it!!

Less than one week ago he would not have even been able to move in the water.

Thanks again, I have been really impressed and look forward to continuing lessons with you.

Today, my 3 year old daughter dived from the side and swam (almost) a width under water. Last week she picked up an object from the bottom of the pool and the week before swam a width on her back unaided. The progress each week is amazing, six months ago she was not confident enough to put her chin in the water; now she's a water-babe!

“So pleased I finally got round to contacting Gareth to book Poppy (4 years 6 mths) in for one to one swimming lessons. Straight from the off Poppy was relaxed and enjoying herself. Gareth is strict but fair with a firmness Poppy responds to. He has a very patient manner with the children. She enjoys using the sharkfin and becoming a “shark”. She is also benefiting greatly from the small group session at Hanley having other children to look up to and copy.”

Swimming without armbands at 3 and a half
After just 4 lessons with Gareth, our little boy Alexei, who has just turned 3 and a half, has gone form splashing with arm bands to being able to swim a full length unaided at The Stone House Hotel pool. It would have taken months, if not years, for him to have made the same progress at the Alleyne’s teaching sessions. Gareth has an easy, but firm, approach that kids really respond to – hence his incredible success not just with Alexei but with other children. Worth every penny!

Swimming Confidently
Hannah had lessons at Alleynes for several years but still struggled with some of the strokes. in just a few weeks with GUST she had perfected the strokes and learnt some new tricks. She now swims with confidence and increased stamina. Plus she enjoyed every minute of her lessons and they were over too quick for her!!

Great for Adults who don't want to be embarrassed!
At 28 I thought James would never learn after his brother jumped on him in the water as a child. When we first came in November he was so nervous and was reluctant to get in the water but in just five months he is a confident swimmer and has even been learning butterfly and swimming under water. Thanks Gareth, he was really conscious of being embarrased but you were so patient with him and put him at ease in the water without patronising him. The pool is a great setting too, really private.

Last week my 3 year old son Harvey managed to swim over 3/4 of a length unaided which is fantastic! Gareth is really good at keeping him focussed even at 3 and his confidence and ability is improving every week.

My son Luke is 7 and to be honest the only swimming he ever managed to do was "holding onto Mom for dear life, the odd bit of treading water & a whole lot of sinking!!!". After only 10 minutes into his first lesson with Garath, Luke was able to swim on his back unaided. He had loads of fun learning and Garath made his lesson so much fun that Luke didn't want it to end. Luke is now on lesson 2 and again Garath has achieved the impossible and got Luke to swim unaided on his front. Luke's confidence in the water is truly a reward and a joy to watch. I would recommend Garath to anyone, young or old. He's fantastically patient and in my son's own words "He's wicked at helping me to swim". What more can I say other than, Thank You Garath you have made one little boy very happy. Now family trips to the pool won't be so tense.

Swimming...aged two and a half!
Having been an instructor myself in the past I was keen for my son Aiden to learn to swim and have confidence in the water from an early age. Gareth was recommended to me and at the age of two and a half he can float and swim on his back a short distance unaided. Gareth is very good at keeping Aidens attention and great at re-building confidence when he has a 'wobble'. It's wonderful to see the progress each week.

Liam learnt to swim in 2 lessons!
After 18 months of swimming lessons at Alleynes swimming pool, Liam aged 7 still could not swim and was not confident in the water at all. After two 30 minutes lessons with Gareth, Liam could swim! I could not believe it! Now 7 lessons on Liam can swim confidently and is now perfecting his strokes. Swimming in the public pool with his family is now a treat rather than a terrifying experience for him. I would recommend Gareth to anyone!

Fantastic Progress
Jasmine has made great progress since staring lessons 4 months ago. Her confidence in the water is fantastic and at the age of 4, she is already swimming unaided. Gareth has developed a great rapport and trust with Jaz and Jaz has fun while learning to swim.
Already I have recommeded Gareth to many friends to a number of friends who all give positive reviews of the one to one lessons.
Today I was thrilled to see Jaz swim a width breast stoke for the first time!!!

Had my first lesson with Gareth today. Who would believe that from being a complete non-swimmer, I would swim the 12 metre pool on my back within my first half hour lesson. Not me that's for sure!
